Metasearch Requirements and Best Practices

Hotel metasearch requires optimization to preform at it's best. See the Google Hotel Ad requirements and best practices to increase your direct bookings.

Google Hotel Ad requirements

Ensure price accuracy - when the potential guests clicks on a rate within your Google Hotel Ads listing, they should immediately see the same rate when they land on your booking engine.

Metadesk customers receive price monitoring emails to help police unscrupulous practices by OTA’s and rogue wholesale rates. Use this data to police shady sites.

Sort lowest to highest on your booking engine - If you’re not sorting this way, the user might not see the rate they clicked. And if it takes more than a few minutes to find it, they’ll bounce.

No qualified rates allowed - AAA, AARP, Gov, Mil, none of those are allowed through Metasearch.

Best practices for hotel metasearch

Ensure price parity - make sure you channel all of your public promos, especially those you’ve distributed through OTA channels, to your meta channel in your booking engine

Offer a better rate direct - if possible, offer a direct booking discount or special member rate when guests sign up for your loyalty programs.

Notify Metadesk of special offers or member rates - Give us the rate codes and we can ensure Google promotes the deal with callouts and slash through pricing

Make sure your BE is easy to use - a plethora of rate options and room type can quickly become confusing. Strategize your best rate to offer through meta and focus on that as a direct booking strategy.
